- Kitty Davis Blom, beloved wife and friend of Knut Arne Blom (deceased), died peacefully at The Normandy Manor of Rocky River on May 13th.
She was born April 26, 1915 in Sarpsborg, Norway to Sigrid (Kristiansen) and Charles Stanley Davis. Kitty was raised in Mechanic Falls, Maine, where her father was Senior Manager of the international Kellner-Partington Paper Company.
She was educated at Gould Academy and The University of Maine, and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. After returning to Norway with her parents, she completed her education at The University of Oslo where she met her husband. They were married for almost fifty years before his death in 1985.
Kitty and Knut narrowly escaped the German occupation of Norway, and emigrated to the United States with their infant daughter. They raised their family in Lakewood, Ohio, later moving to Bay Village.
Kitty is survived by their three children,
Xenia Cord (Michael) of Kokomo, Indiana,
Sally Julian (Michael) of Avon Lake, Ohio,
and Dr. Eric D. Blom (Sally) of Carmel, Indiana;
grandchildren Lynda Woodard (Steve) of Kokomo, Indiana, Michael Cord II of Indianapolis, Rodney Cord (Dr. Anila Ricks- Cord) of Laurinburg, NC, Julie Cord, Florence, NC, Kristin Reimer (William) of Burlington, NC, Eric Julian (Rhonda) of Bay Village, and brother-in-law Carl Peter Blom of Oslo, Norway.
She was the great-grandmother of eleven. In addition to being a founding member of The Cleveland International Piano Competition, Kitty was the oldest surviving member of the Three Arts Club of Lakewood. She and her husband were longtime members of The Sons of Norway. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
