Media NotesPeacefully on April 16, 2008. Born in Funchal, Madeira, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick C. Walker. Predeceased by her loving husbands COL Robert G. Mundinger and Berent E. Friele.

During WWII, Daphne was a member of the British FANY‘s and also served as the Jedburgh commanding officer's secretary. For recording their history and reuniting French, British and American Jedburgh teams, she was recognized as a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and received the French Ordre National du Merite.

She later worked at the State Department and the American Embassy in Paris, France. Daphne was gracious to all and loved all creatures great and small.

Daphne is survived by two devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Smith of Boca Raton, FL and Mr. and Mrs. James LaBrecque of Cheshire, CT. "Grannie Goose" is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Barbara Smith, Susan McConnell and Berent LaBrecque, and two great-grandchildren, Reilly and Tyler McConnell.

Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery, at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008.
